Europe-Wide and Nordic Drivers for Outsourcing Highlighted in EquaTerra Study
Carl-Henrik Hallström, Regional Director, Nordic region
Achieving cost savings was identified as the most important outsourcing driver for future outsourcing efforts with 67 percent of participants in this year’s EquaTerra European Service Provider Performance and Satisfaction Study. The figure was even higher for the Nordic region at 72 percent. Access to skills and quality improvement were also identified as significant outsourcing drivers both in the Nordics and Europe-wide. For access to skills, the Nordic region was, at 46 percent, seven percent higher than the European average – highlighting the ongoing affordable IT skills shortages in the Nordics market. For quality improvement, the Nordic region (36 percent) was more in-line with the European average (38 percent).
This annual study has also revealed that overall, service providers are performing well and effectively delivering the levels of service demanded by clients. Eighty-four percent of participating Nordic companies are satisfied with the performance of their service provider in terms of general satisfaction, this perception is the same as the Europe-wide average. In addition, 91 percent of Nordic outsourcing buyers would recommend the service providers used – the highest figure of any European region. These findings, along with many others in this study, show outsourcing playing an important role in helping the leading Nordic organisations to achieve business objectives.
This year’s study investigated over 2000 outsourcing contracts held by over 750 of the top IT spending organisations in Europe. This included over 440 outsourcing contracts held by over 220 leading organisations in the Nordic region. A copy of the management summary report can be viewed here.
